Discovering
When I was little, I used to love looking through the baby book my mom had kept for me. She had documented my weight, my experiences, my teething…she had pictures of me learning to walk, or just sleeping on my favorite blanket. I remember looking through my baby book in the same order every time, leaving the best for last…the lock of hair she had kept from my first haircut. I loved how soft the hair was, how natural the color was…and how amazing I thought it was that it came from my head, when I was a baby.
When I got pregnant with Nathan, I vowed to have a baby book for him. It was one of the baby items I was most excited about getting. I searched and searched…trying to find the “right” one. What I didn’t know at the time…just how hard it would be to keep up with all of the “firsts”, all of the weights and measurements. Needless to say…that baby book sits under my bed, nearly empty with facts and data. Sam’s, is completely empty…and poor Mia, doesn’t even have a book purchased for her. In this age of Internet…I discovered blogging, and back when Nathan was an infant, that’s what I did…I blogged the stats. I was so diligent with him…then Sam came along…and I became less diligent…but did still document important experiences and stats. Again…child #3…Mia…I managed to blog her birth story, and post a couple pictures in her first few months, then went radio silence.
However, I find myself going back to that Blogger blog and looking around…feeling SO very grateful that I had documented all that I did, then I kick myself for not documenting more of all three of them…now. So I have decided to just merge the two. I know this is a “business” blog and some of you may not care at all about my life with my kids…or my kids in general…however, my business IS my kids. I wouldn’t be IN business if it weren’t for them and my desire to document their every living moment. So…take it as it is…my life. Captured.
The random story behind these images…I was taking a shower (TMI?), and peaked out to find my sweet girl discovering the world of make-up. Of course, soaking wet, wrapped in a towel, I managed to run downstairs, grab the camera, and make it back upstairs before her discovery really began. I love these images with all my soul…I love that she has no idea what any of this stuff is, yet instinctually she has an idea of what to do with them (aside from the eye lash curler…because, come on…that is just unnatural anyways). Some day…I WILL print these and have them in a book for her, but right now, I am just glad I have managed to get them on a blog and documented in some fashion.
